The idea of Preston’s Pottery Wheel is to give our community, in this busy city, a chance to slow down. I’ve observed that people are quite often caught up in their own plans; rushing around to do their tasks for the day, getting from A to B without appreciating the journey or stopping to talk to anyone else.
I feel that we could all benefit from being a little more patient and to engage with more people. Preston’s Pottery Wheel will be a place for people to spend quality time with family and friends as well as enjoy creating something with their hands, and really invest some time into the creation.
People of all ages are welcome to come and get stuck in. Making and painting Pottery could be a one-time fun experience, where you could catch up with friends while completing the full creative process and leave you with your pottery as a souvenir to cherish.
It could be a place you find time to visit a few times a week between your busy schedule, so that you can do the next step in the process because you love the satisfaction of a personal mini project.
Preston’s Pottery Wheel could be the place for the whole family, getting the kids involved in something they can get messy with but also teaches patients.
Or it could be where you meet new friends and really develop a new skill over time.
Preston’s Pottery Wheel will be what people make it. It is designed to encourage the community to step out of their routines, get out of their own heads, put down their smart phones and indulge in the enjoyment of creating and connecting with people.
