Site Visit to Hanover Mill, Preston

I went to look around this derelict mill, and found some very interesting examples of how structures like this, naturally fall apart. I love the textures that appear from materials that are weathered.

I then focused on all the parts of the building that had been broken open to show the layers beneath.

Here are my sketched of my favourite elements of the mill. I drew the first one because I loved how the paint has cracked and reveals the raw brick behind it. I sketched the piece of slate, feather and stone together to show the contrast of materials. The other drawings I chose to do because i'm interested in how the bricks are weathered and misshapen, showing the building is no longer perfect.
