Development for my logo

I started playing around with possible logo ideas, focusing on my initials of B.E.Holley. After drawing for a while I realised I can make the B and E look mirrored in certain fonts and developed on using that and was figuring out how to join 'Holley designs' to it. This photo is my very first logo sketches.

After deciding I like the letters looking mirrored I tried out rough logos using existing fonts to get an idea for the cleaner design. I found fonts that made the E curved so my idea could work, and for most of them I found typing the number 3 was often more like how the E was written and would emphasise the flipped E/B design I want, It also allowed me to add a graphic to create the line of the B like in my initial sketches.
I will continue to refine my logo ideas, and can create my own drawn font that works for my design, but using these existing font really helped my visualise the idea.

Obviously I didn't want to only use existing fonts or images that were not my own, so I brought the basic idea using Brush script MT font into Photoshop to edit it. I drew my own pencil image and extended the curve of the 'B' to connect to the image, hoping this will make them more obviously creating the letter.

I also changed the font of 'Holley Designs' because I don't like the script when used for the full words, to me it looked too messy and distracted from the main logo. On that note, I didn't mind the words being a different font, because I feel like the B.E logo could be separated and be effective on it's own. The words Holley Designs is there as the full logo to make it more clear, therefore I wanted a clear font that is easy to read. I used Baskerville Old Face as I have always liked it and have been using the font in most projects I do.
I wanted the lilac in my logo because purple is a perfect mix of blue and red; where blues usually evoke calmness, stability and possibly trust, and red is associated with action and energy.
lightening the colour stops it being to dark or bright and looking aggressive, also the lilac can be written on in black and be very clear still.
I chose purples for my brand to show i'm responsible and stable, but also that I should be hired for a job.
I revised my design a weeks later, and was advised that the words Holley Designs were not necessary in the logo, and so I made the B.E the sole focus of my logo, and hope that it will become the recognised symbol of B.E.Holley Designs.
Finally I adjusted the size to get my final logo design and decided on the exact colour of the light lilac; ede4f0
